Our instruction videos are here!

Recently we visited Lilla Mediabyrån outside Skurup, Skåne – finally time for filming day!

FL: Emilia Borgvall, Felicia Samuelsson, Jonas Hofvander

Together with Jonas we filmed five instruction videos showing how Påhoj works. From how to assemble your Påhoj, installing the bike adapter, riding with it, walking with it and of course showing off our canopy that will protect your little one from the sun and rain.

„It was important to us that each video was informative and concrete, while at the same time staying true to the PåHoj identity.“

Emilia Borgvall, Designer at PåHoj

Ready, set, go!

We are so happy with the playful, but still informative, result and we hope that it will help you once you have received your Påhoj. Curious how it works? Check it out here or you can go to „How it works„:

Kind & Jugend 2019

Last Tuesday we packed our car and drove a total of 800km to our final destination: Cologne, where Kind und Jugend takes place, one of the biggest trade fairs for baby and toddler products in the world. We arrived the day before the fair so that we had time to prepare our (if you ask us) amazing booth.

A four-day frenzy of positive responses and meetings with lovely people past in no time and now, when we were about to summarize it, all we can say is: WOW! We are so overwhelmed by the great industry response and beyond thankful to everyone who came by to talk to us and try Påhoj.

Here comes a recap in pictures:

Freedom to explore – the story of Påhoj

Lycke, founder of Påhoj

Påhoj founder and designer Lycke von Schantz shares the story about her relationship to biking and how the idea of Påhoj came to be.

I was five years old when I learned how to bike. I will never forget that feeling! The bike was too big and it was so scary at first. But once up there, it was magical! To fly ahead and feel the wind in my hair was fantastic. Ever since, I have always used my bike. To daycare and school, to meet friends, to parties, home from parties, to work and now a days to pick up my own kids at daycare.

Born and raised in Lund, one of Sweden’s largest bike cities, biking was a natural part of my childhood and it gave me so much freedom. The bike made it possible to discover new places and meet new friends. Now when I’m a mother I want to give the same freedom to my children.

“Biking has always been the natural way of transportation for me.
Why should becoming a parent put an end to that?”

Påhoj started as a master thesis in Industrial Design at Lund University. While looking for the ultimate everyday-problem to solve, my mother popped the idea. “Why don’t you solve the problem of biking and walking with kids in one combined solution?”  She, who had always been dragging me and my sister along on the bike and in strollers was very familiar with the difficulties involved.

Påhoj Design Process

Today I’m grateful I decided to pursue this idea. Påhoj gets requests from all over the world. It seems that my mother’s everyday problem in small Lund was a worldwide concern. By designing Påhoj, a child bike seat that turns into a stroller in a second, I want to give parents and their little ones the freedom to explore urban bike adventures together.

Have a nice ride. And walk!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Me and my family recently moved to beautiful Ystad, a small city located in the very south of Sweden, close to the ocean. In Ystad I work as a nurse at the Children’s emergency room. Our family consists of Jacob, our baby boy Beppe, Sivan the cat and me.

What’s your super power?

Well, my ability to find joy and beauty in the little things, that must be a super power right?! Also, I enjoy swimming in really cold water. It’s so energizing and ironically it makes your body feel really warm afterwards.

What do you think is the biggest challenge when biking with kids?

The number one challenge is that it’s really hard to bring along the stroller or buggy when we want to go somewhere by bike. Especially when you have a small child, like we do, that can’t walk longer distances, or more frequently doesn’t WANT to walk where we were suppose to. You can imagine the hustle!

How do you think Påhoj could help you in your everyday life?

I don’t have a driving license, so I would have the possibility to use my bike for the daily trips and errands and bring Beppe along for the ride. We would be able to bike to the places we really enjoy, like the small villages on the coast of Österlen. It would mean that we could be gone all day long, maybe bringing a pick-nick and then bike back home. So much more smooth than having to depend on the car and someone to drive us.

Final question! What is your favorite bike destination?

I love biking to the ocean! Here in Sweden, the seasons by the ocean are equally beautiful and as I mentioned before, one of my favorite things to do is take an energizing dip!
